The Town of Westwood seeks passionate and responsible individuals for the seasonal positions of Camp Activity Specialist in the fields of Art, Theater/Dance, S.T.E.M., Nature or Camp Games for the Westwood Recreation Department Summer Camp. These positions are responsible for designing an activity curriculum in their area of expertise, presenting it pre-season to the Camp Director and Program Manager, and leading age-appropriate activities for each camp group during the camp day for ages Kindergarten-8th grade. When time permits, Specialists will help with the general administration of Camp.

We are selecting a limited number of Specialists with one or more of the following areas of interest:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Theater & Dance
  • S.T.E.M.
  • Nature
  • Camp Games & Fun

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead age-appropriate activities in your area of specialty for each camp group ranging from Kindergarten - 8th grade.
  • Work efficiently pre-season to create an activity curriculum for your specialty.
  • Present your curriculum to the Camp Director and the Program Manager pre-summer.
  • Manage materials for your area including requesting supplies and ordering when necessary.
  • Help with the general administration of Camp including drop off/pickup, special events & lunch time.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with staff, campers and parents/guardians.

Qualifications and Experience: Specialists must be at least 18 years of age and have experience working with young people, preferably in a camp setting, as well as experience in their respective specialty. Attendance at all staff training sessions is required. First Aid, CPR/AED certification is required (certification opportunities available). Ability to work with children of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Schedule Requirements: Mandatory staff trainings June 10-12, 2025, from 4:00-8:00PM. ?Work commitment is Monday-Friday, June 23 - August 8, 2025 (No July 4th).

Salary and Benefits: This is a seasonal, non-benefit position with a starting hourly rate of $17.50. Eligible for a $500 perfect attendance bonus. Employee discount of 100% on in-house programs, e.g., camp for full-time staff and their immediate family.
